Vuelo

2018 - 3’ - Concert Band - Grade 3

“The initial inspiration for ‘Vuelo’ was seeing birds and planes flying through the sky, zooming past and through towering clouds. Their constant relentless pursuit through the heavens to reach their destination regardless of the turbulent winds that try to push them back and down.

‘Vuelo’ serves as a musical depiction of that pursuit while admiring the beautiful scenery of our atmosphere.”

Colors Ever So Vibrant

2017 - 6’25 - Concert Band - Grade 4+

“Ever since I have accepted myself as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I have desired to show my appreciation to that loving community with music. Colors Ever So Vibrant is a musical part of me that I hold dear and that means a great deal to me and those that I have grown to know in the LGBTQ+ community. We live in a time where this community is becoming understood and accepted, but still faces much unnecessary rejection, hatred, and violence. Amidst this turmoil, my music is meant to send out a message to all of those who, LGBTQ+ or not, fight for love: there is hope. There is hope for a better society, hope for a better life, and hope for peace. And however bleak things may seem at times, we must hold on to that hope. After all, if you look up, you will find that the colors remain ever so vibrant in the sky.”

— words from the Composer

This recording of “Colors Ever So Vibrant” was made possible by a collaboration project

called “…And We Were Heard”, led by Dr. Kaitlin Bove.

The recording ensemble is the Seattle Pacific University Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Danny Helseth.

Solar Flare Fanfare

2020 - 2’ - Concert Band - Grade 5

"Solar Flare Fanfare" describes the amazingly beautiful

danger of the celestial event that is a solar flare.

The unrelenting arms of fire that extends from our Sun.

While it is an amazing event, there is still an underlying

danger, for this event could easily destroy our planet if fate

so chooses to.”

Norteño Suite

2019 - 5’ - Concert Band - Grade 4+

“Since I started composing 10 years ago, I’ve always wanted to write a piece for band that showcased some of the musical genres of Northern Mexico

I grew up listening to Cumbias, Rancheras, Corridos, etc. so I thought it would be a fun and great idea to write a miniature band suite featuring those types of Northern Mexican music.

Armageddon

Concerto for Trumpet

2018 - 14’ - Orchestral Winds w/ Percussion - Grade 5

The End of Times has always been and always will be a mystery- a secret so to speak. However, it is no secret that the initiator of our demise is the Trumpet.

With its haunting timbre calls for our inevitable destruction.

Destruction by war in the first movement.

Destruction by Mother Nature herself in the second.

The unfortunate release of hell on Earth when the final trumpet, the seventh trumpet, calls the ominous siren of chaos.

Nevertheless, we must enjoy our time now, nothing that is precious as life lasts forever, as musically depicted in the third movement. The seconds of our lives are ticking away.

The constant battles, both internal and external will bring about the apocalypse.

You've been warned.

Symphony No. 3

2018 - 17’25 - Symphonic Band - Grade 5

i - Conceit: Egomania is a double-edged sword. It feels great to be on top of the world, little do some know- there's only room for yourself.

ii - Delusion of Reality: The underlying reality from a fabricated calm. It's all fun and games until the truth hits.

iii - Anxious Delight: Hustle. Life moves quickly, almost like there's an accelerando under every year that passes. Time's almost up, there's so much to do. The top of the world is waiting and all we have is a precious knowledge of self-destruction.
